CASABLANCA AIRPORT (Nouaceur)
Mohammed V – Casablanca airport is located 30 Km south of Casablanca in the commune of Nouaceur.
With a capacity of 16.4 million passengers and 150,000 t/year of freight, iit is Morocco’s main airport and the 4th most important in Africa.
Served by 50 regular airlines and connected to 80 destinations, the airport handled a traffic volume of nearly 7.3 million passengers in 2011, with nearly 70000 aircraft movements .
The construction of the airport began in 1951 on behalf of the USAF which maintains there, under the name of Nouasseur Air Base, an air base for the bombers of the Strategic Air Command. The Americans returned the base facilities to the Moroccan government on August 15, 1963.
In September 2007, the airport doubled its capacity with the inauguration of the new Terminal 22.
Today it is the Hub for Moroccan airlines Royal Air Maroc, Jet4you, Air Arabia Maroc and Regional Air Lines.
The airport now has three passenger terminals:
Terminal 1: with a total surface area of 80,000 m² and a capacity of 10 million passengers3.
Terminal 2: with a total surface area of 66,000 m² and a capacity of 6 million passengers
Terminal 3: with a total surface area of 4,000 m² and a capacity of 400,000 passengers
It also has two freight terminals:
Freight Terminal 1: 11,200 m² and a capacity of 50,000 t/year
Freight Terminal 2: 20,000 m² and a capacity of 100,000 t/year
